DAY 1: ARRIVE TOKYO

Upon arrival in Tokyo, you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight: Tokyo, New Takanawa Prince Hotel for 4 nights.

DAY 2: DYNAMIC TOKYO

Enjoy panoramic views from Tokyo Tower observatory and a traditional tea ceremony at the Happoen Japanese Garden. After a stop at the Imperial Palace, savor a barbecue lunch at Chinzanso Restaurant. See the National Diet building, then board a sightseeing boat up the Sumida River to Asakusa, where you'l see Asakusa Kannon Temple. The tour concludes with a drive through the famous Ginza district. DAY 3: NIKKO WORLD HERITAGE TOUR

Visit the Toshogu Shrine, a gorgeous complex of colorful structures. Spectacular views await during your Irohazaka zigzag drive up the mountains, with 20 hairpin curves. After lunch, visit Lake Chuzenji at the foot of Mt. Nantai and Kegon Waterfall. (B,L)

DAY 4: TOKYO AT LEISURE

Today is at leisure. Enjoy activities from sunrise Sumo wrestling to afternoon museum visits to evening Kabuki theater (optional, own expense). (B)

DAY 5: TOKYO - MT. FUJI - HAKONE

Drive halfway up Mt. Fuji, Japan's highest mountain, for views from 7,545 feet. After lunch, continue to Hakone for a Lake Ashi cruise, then take the Aerial Cableway at Mt. Komagatake. Overnight: Hakone, Hotel Hakone Kowakien for 1 night. (B,L)

DAY 6: HAKONE - KYOTO - NARA - KYOTO

Transfer to Odawara Station and journey to Kyoto on the "Shinkansen" train. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon tour to Nara. See Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Shrine and Deer Park. Overnight: Kyoto, New Miyako Hotel for 3 nights. (B,L)

DAY 7: KYOTO SIGHTS

Your Kyoto sightseeing includes the Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle's gorgeous interiors, and Kyoto Imperial Palace. After lunch, visit Sanjusangendo Hall with its 1,001 images of Buddha, the rose-hued Heian Shrine and the Kiyomizu Temple's wooden veranda. (B,L)

DAY 8: KYOTO AT LEISURE

Today is at leisure to explore this city of temples and geishas. Optional activities range from a daytime cultural tour to an evening of traditional dance and art (own expense). (B)

DAY 9: KYOTO - HIROSHIMA

Travel by train from Kyoto to Hiroshima. Visit Miyajima (Sacred Island), with amazing beauty and tranquil atmosphere. Head to Peace Memorial Park, near the Atomic Bomb epicenter, and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Overnight: Hiroshima, Hotel Granvia Hiroshima for 1 night. (B)

DAY 10: HIROSHIMA - OSAKA

Travel by train from Hiroshima to Kurashiki, where you'll stop to visit Ohara Museum of Art and stroll around the Old Town. After lunch, continue by train to Okayama, with a stop to tour Korakuen Garden. Return to Osaka by train this evening. Overnight: Osaka, Hotel Granvia Osaka for 2 nights. (B,L)

DAY 11: OSAKA WALKING TOUR

Get a bird's-eye panoramic view of Osaka from the Aerial Garden observatory. After lunch, visit Osaka Castle to see the many relics and artifacts of Old Osaka. Complete your Osaka experience with a river cruise by Aqua Liner. (B,L)

DAY 12: DEPART OSAKA

Transfer to the airport to connect with your onward flight (flight, own expense). (B)
