A valid passport is required to travel to Thailand. U.S. passport holders entering Thailand for less than 30 days do not need an entry visa.

The Thai unit of currency is the Thai Baht (1USD = 39THB)

Tipping
Thais do not depend on tips or gratuities for their income and tips are not expected for normal service, even in restaurants and pubs. However, tipping in appreciation is at your discretion.

Weather:
Thailand's climate is tropical, high both in temperature and humidity, and dominated by monsoons. April and May are the hottest months of the year, with temperatures averaging around 95 degrees Fahrenheit. June sees the beginning of the South West Monsoon, and brings with it the rainy season, which continues intermittently until the end of October.
From November to the end of February the climate is much less trying (around 85 degrees Fahrenheit) with a cooling North East breeze and a reduction in the humidity level. This is also the main tourist season, and the best time to visit Thailand. The north and north-east are generally cooler than Bangkok in winter and hotter in summer. In the far north, temperatures can occasionally drop as low as 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

Safety: Thailand, the “land of smiles".
Thailand is a relatively safe country. Travelers should be conscious of pick pocketing and bag snatching.

Health:
Western medical facilities are available in the major cities. In remote areas of
Thailand, medical facilities can be basic. We strongly recommend you consult your preferred doctor for the most up to date advice on the best health precautions at least one month prior to travel. Travel Insurance must be purchased as a condition of travel.

Departure Tax:
International departure tax is currently 500 Thai baht (around USD$12pp). Domestic departure tax is around 30 Baht per flight (USD$1).
